This Saturday March 22nd from 2 to 4 pm there will be a public memorial in New York City to honor the life and legacy of philosopher and Arendt scholar Jerome Kohn (1931-2024). Kohn’s influence on American public culture was felt through his monumental contributions to the reception of Hanah Arendt’s thought. As a long-time executor and trustee of Arendt’s literary estate, he edited, published, and wrote introductions to numerous books, essays, and other writings that have played an essential role in disseminating her work and shaping her legacy over the past 30 years. Please join Kohn’s friends and colleagues in honoring, remembering and celebrating his keen insight, kindness, dedication and commitment, and his enduring contributions both to the Hannah Arendt scholarly community and to the the practice of public thinking. More information and registration is available here. You can read remembrances of Jerry Kohn by some of his friends and colleagues here.
