The Meaning of October 27th

Aliza Becker and Noah Schoen present a webinar, “The Synagogue Shooting: Pittsburghers Reflect on Antisemitism and Racism.” This presentation is part of the "Meanings of October 27th" oral history project that explores Jewish and non-Jewish Pittsburghers’ life histories and reflections on the October 27th, 2018 synagogue shooting at the Tree of Life building. Becker and Schoen have created an interactive webinar developed around several audio clips from the interviews of "Meanings of October 27th," where perspectives from Pittsburgh challenge viewers to reflect on our own relationship with antisemitism, racism, and the synagogue shooting. The project also raises the question of the differences between antisemitism and racism and how they impact the citizens of Pittsburgh. The Webinar is well worth your attention.
