Announcing the First Issue of AJPA News
02-24-2016We are pleased to announce the first issue of AJPA News, the official newsletter of the American Jewish Peace Archive (AJPA).
In 2013, the American Jewish Peace Archive under the leadership of Aliza Becker, AJPA Founder and Director as well as one of the Hannah Arendt Center's fellows, began gathering oral histories of American Jewish pioneers who worked for Israeli-Palestinian peace and reconciliation since 1967. Well over 100 interviews later, AJPA is processing and disseminating those stories and building relationships between Jewish activists across the generations.
Advisory Council member Zahara Zahav describes the significance of these stories: “They offer insight and inspiration for the present...Stories are also sacred in their message that all paths to liberation are exceedingly long, harried, and built on each generation's best guess. Learning the stories of activists before me helps me know my mesorah - where and who I come from - and makes clear that the blood, sweat, and prayers of others are what make my own struggle possible.”
