We were saddened to learn that Elisabeth Young-Bruehl passed away yesterday. Many in the Arendt community knew her as Arendt's former student and first biographer. Her magisterial Hannah Arendt: For the Love of the World, introduced many of us to the life and ideas of Hannah Arendt.
Elisabeth Young-Bruehl left academic philosophy and turned to psychoanalysis. Most recently she practiced psychoanalysis in Toronto, where she had been living since 2007.
