Sam Moyn: "Human Rights in the History of Global Cosmopolitanisms"
09-25-2010Professor Samuel Moyn of Columbia University recently gave a talk entitled at Bard sponsored by the Hannah Arendt Center and the Human Rights Program.
The talk addressed themes from his recent and widely-discussed book, The Last Utopia: Human Rights in History (Harvard 2010). Professor Moyn is also the author of Origins of the Other: Emmanuel Levinas Between Revelation and Ethics (2005) and A Holocaust Controversy: The Treblinka Affair in Postwar France (2005), as well as numerous articles. He is editor of the journal Humanity and co-Editor of the journal of Modern Intellectual History. In 2007 he received Columbia Universities Mark van Doren Award for excellence in teaching.
