[A Conversation with Yehuda Beinin]

Hannah Arendt Center presents:

A Conversation with Yehuda Beinin

Monday, February 19, 2024
Olin Humanities, Room 205
5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

This event occurred on:  Conversation with Roger Berkowitz and Yehuda Beinin, an outspoken parent and member of the Hostage and Missing Families Forum

Beinin will shed light on the dire situation facing hostages, including dual-national Americans, who remain in captivity facing imminent danger. "Considering a new deal that includes the release of hostages – this could not be more urgent," states Beinin. "The situation is dire and deeply personal to me. Some of our fellow dual-national Americans are among the remaining hostages, and they face very real danger and even death each day they stay in captivity."

Beinin understands the situation as a grave test of democracy, yet one which could hold the opportunity for the region to move forward in a positive direction. On October 13, 2023, President Biden, in an hour and a half private Zoom call with eight American families of hostages, including Beinin, laid out his understanding of the 7 October attack on Israel and what he proposed to do about it, stating precisely that it was important "not to waste this crisis."

The event will offer attendees an opportunity to engage with Beinin, gain a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding hostage situations, and explore avenues for advocacy and support. With escalating tensions and the urgent need for diplomatic solutions, Beinin's perspective promises to inspire action and solidarity within the community.

Free and open to the public.
