Hannah Arendt Center presents:
What Really Matters with Walter Russell Mead
Wednesday, October 28, 2026
Olin Humanities, Room 205
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
This event occurs on:
Wed. October 28, 6 pm – 8 pm
Global events continue to test our assumptions about how the world works and how power operates in international affairs. The belief that hard power was becoming less important, along with many other expectations about the post-Cold War world, has been challenged by recent developments. Walter Russell Mead will explore why the world is developing so differently from what many anticipated and what this means for the future of American foreign policy.
Walter Russell Mead is the Ravenel B. Curry III Distinguished Fellow in Strategy and Statesmanship at Hudson Institute, the Alexander Hamilton Professor of Strategy and Statecraft with the Hamilton School for Classical and Civic Education at the University of Florida, and the “Global View” columnist at The Wall Street Journal. From 1997 to 2010, Mr. Mead was a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, serving as the Henry A. Kissinger senior fellow for U.S. foreign policy from 2003 until his departure. He is a member of Aspen Institute Italy.
